If you want to pursue a course in Ayurveda in India, read it right now!
The problem the Ayurvedic education system is facing is the syllabus is not at all fits into the current requirements. this may be because the higher authorities in Ayurvedic academic system are fro arts background rather than Science background. Imagine a pg scholar of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics studying a subject of history in his final year of MD (Ayu) !!! horrible.
another big flaw is lack of infreastructure in 99.99% of ayurvedic colleges in India. don’t be fooled by attractive brochures, newspaper adertisements that these instituions put in your news paper.
If you already in the soup of this BAMS, then better you pursue MBA further than MD(in case u want to do Post graduation. a private seat for MD may cost you 7-8 lacs. with the same money, say if you join IIPM for mba, you will be given free laptop and a week of foreign tour, and credit of being a student of such a reputed institution. this I am quoting just as an example. Many of my friends who have done MDs, and BAMS regret of coming to this field. So, its I suggest its always better to pursue any other field rather than Ayurveda, if you dont possess too much passion in it.
yes, janni, I do agree with you. better some one think twice before investing five to eight years of life in Ayurvedic education. in the time, an engineering or MBA guy gets well settled with 3-4 years of experience.
